I was diagnosed with asthma about 1.5 years ago. I currently take zyrtec, albuterol and advair for it. I smoke 1 pack of
cigarettes a day and have tried to quit, but am having more difficulty in stopping cigarettes than I have with stopping my
usage of drugs and alcohol. I have been sober for a short period of time and have been told to focus on "One thing at a
time", as far as addictions go. To add to everything, I was told in 2001, after having an extremely bad case of
pneumonia, where my left lung collapsed. The doctor told me that 40% of my left lung was scarred for the rest of my life.
After all of this being said, I am 34 years old and I cannot even go up a flight of stairs without losing my breath.
Sometimes I need to stop for a few seconds to catch my breath. I have had many X-Rays of my chest, but the doctors always
tell me that my lungs look good. My main question here is, "Can you see scar tissue through X-Raying," and if not,
should I get an MRI of my lungs.
