Follow up care for Stage 1 or Stage 1a Merkel Cell carcinoma - Where to find experts in Merkel Cell Carcinoma

Asked by Unregistered on Fri 04, Apr 2008 08:32pm :

I would like to know if there are any cancer centers, or specialists who have had extensive experience with Merkel Cell carcinoma. I am interested in the post surgical care for stage 1, or stage 1a Merkel Cell Carcinoma. Since this is such a rare and agressive cancer, it appears that it may be difficult for a surgical oncologist, in a non University or non research environment to make the right decisions. If possible I would need to find someone, or some institution in South Florida. But the broader question, is how to find the expertise in this cancer.

The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute at the University of South Florida is an institute of international repute. The other regional option is the MD Anderson centre in Houston. You may visit either of these centres for accessing world-class expertise. All the best!
