I have the mirena and I just found out I was pregnant, Should I be worried

	I think I am pregnant and I have the mirena birth control in right now, What type of birth defects should I be worried about? Is there a possibility I could have a miscaraige?

	Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Thu 17, Jul 2008 09:40am: Hi, There is a definite risk of ectopic pregnancy with mirena and it is 1 in 1000 users. If pregnancy occurs with mirena in place the IUDshould be removed, although sometimes removal itself can result in loss of pregnancy.
