I think I have a urine infection. It is uncomfortable and painful.

	My symptoms are a frequent urinating sensation with painful and stinging and sometimes bloody urine. Do I have an infection and what over the counter solution can I take.

	Answer by Dr Bhupinder, MD (doctor) on Wed 30, Jul 2008 01:09am: Hi, probably this is urinary tract infection; best approach is to get urine routine microscopy along with culture sensitivity done to identify bacteria responsible for causing infection. Other way is to take plenty of fluids along with tablet ciprofloxacin 500mg twice daily for 3 days. If no improvement is seen after 2 days of medicine, do consult doctor and get investigations done.
