I think Im pregnant. Can doctors tell if you are pregnant by touching your stomach.How far along do you have to be to tell?

	I think I pregnant... I was touching my stomach last night and I felt something kind of hard when I lay flat on my stomach. Can doctors know you are pregnant just by touching your stomach?

	Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Tue 05, Aug 2008 05:43am: Hi, How are you? It is very difficult to tell if you are pregnant just by touching the stomach in the early stages . It is only later when the abdomen enlarges in a typical pattern and fetal movements can be felt and fetal heart sounds can be auscultated that pregnancy can be diagnosed. Usually by then the diagnosis is already in place. If you are suspecting pregnancy please get a home pregnancy kit and do the pregnancy test. Take care!
