June 2007 Silt, Colorado--2 small bite marks/holes on breast total size thumbnail or less. After one day itching at site with fever-congestion and profuse nite sweating all lasting one wk. Unbearable itching lasting one month. Presented to recommended poison entomolgy Dr. who prescribed steroid saying not to touch rash area and it should clear up in one week. It persisted with itching becoming more tolerated. Early 2008 routine blood work revealed elevated liver enzymes. Late spring 2008 health fair BP of 160/95. Bite area recently grew to 10 square inches total with bite holes/marks in center. Itching has become intolerable. Today's public health visit was not helpful in diagnosis or cure potential or giving any potential resources for a diagnosis or cure. What lesion stays fresh & grows for one year? Have I been poisoned? Spider vs mite vs fungus vs parasite? Going to Denver nxt wk. Any suggestions as to who or where I could present for results?

Hi, How are you? It is a very unusual case where a bite marks has not only persisted but has actually grown in size. It is very difficult to pin point the exact diagnosis without a thorough examination. These could be spider bites. It can also be a fungal infection. Fungal infection can easily be diagnosed by culture of the scrapings from the lesion and would respond to topical antifungal agents. It is a good thing you are going to Denver to get it checked. Do keep us posted!
