Hi,
Hirschsprung's disease is a condition that affects the large intestine and causes problems with passing
stool. It is congenital and due to missing nerve cells in the muscles of a portion of the baby's colon.
Surgical removal of the diseased portion of the colon is the only treatment for Hirschsprung's disease.
This condition does not recur. It may lead to enterocolitis and problems of lack of fluid because of the
shortened colon. Because of this, it is recommended that children who have this drink plenty of water. The
scar tissue and adhesions is due to the operation done when she was baby. These may need to be removed.
Take care and regards.
