Asked by Unregistered (Female; 27; India, Republic of; I had a medical abortion with pills in July / August 2004, but did not go to confirm that abortion is
complete or not. I did not have any sideaffects that time and I was normal. Immediately from the next month I
got my regular periods and I was busy in finding a job so did not notice the bleeding is less or more in the
following period cycle. But I had regular periods every mont with out fail. Now I am 27 and I feel I have less
bleeding every month. maximum 2 days. I remember by bleeding is less for the past 1 yr. I also feel I have
some vaginal yellow excretion and a bad odour for the past few months. Please advice me. Is this due to my

Hello,
Normal blood loss during pregnancy is 60 – 250 ml.Anything less than that is called
hypomenorrhea. An overactive thyroid function (hyperthyroidism) or certain kidney diseases can both cause
hypomenorrhea. Oral contraceptive pills and intrauterine adhesions can also cause hypomenorrhea.
Infrequent and light menstruation(spotting) is called oligomenorrhea.PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome) is a
common cause of oligomenorrhea. PCOS is a condition in which the ovaries become filled with small cysts.
I feel that evaluation by a gynecologist along with investigations like thyroid profile,Ultrasound abdomen,
blood insulin levels, serum testosterone and androgen levels are required.Pls consult a soon.I don’t think
that the past medical abortion is responsible for your decreased periods flow.However,an examination from a
gynecologist is definitely required.
