Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD (doctor) on Thu 27, Nov 2008 10:23am:

Hi, How is your wife? A diagnosis of small lymphocytic lymphoma is made by removing an enlarged lymph node, or part of it, and examining the cells under a microscope. It is a very small operation and may be done under local or general anesthesia. Biopsies may also be taken from other body tissues. Additional tests, including blood tests, x-rays, scans, and bone marrow samples, are then used to get more information about the type of lymphoma, if ever, is present. Are there other symptoms present such as sweating at night, tiredness, unexplained high temperatures, and weight loss? It would be best to discuss her laboratory results with your doctor or a specialist for proper diagnosis and management. Take care and regards.
