undiagnosed menstral issue. Please help!

	Asked by Unregistered (Female; 21; Grandmother died of Lymphoma. Grandfather died of Myloma. My mother had Tumors that were benign. My sister has a form of cancer - no idea what it is.; Relevant drugs:no medications. ) on Sat 27, Dec 2008 07:56am :
	My name is Amy, and I am 21 years old. I get my period 2 possibly 3 times a year. I am not on any birth control meds, nor am I pregnant. I started getting my period at 13 years old, and over the past 5 years they keep getting futhur and futhur apart. All hormone levels are within normal ranges. I went to a specialist, but they had no idea what would be happening and they put me on birth control and other meds that made me very sick. Last ultra sound showed no abnormalities, no cysts. Are there any possibilities of what could be happening?? I have no medical insurance. Please respond.

Some of the causes of irregular periods have been ruled out in your case like thyroid dysfunction, ovarian cysts. Other causes include excessive weight loss, obesity, anorexia, nutritional deficiency like anemia. I would suggest you to take some nutritional supplements which have Iron for some time and see if it helps in regularizing your menstrual cycle. Hope this helps!
