sleep position 7 weeks pregnancy

Dear Doc,

Im 26 years old female 7 weeks pregnant. I was wanting to know what is the best position when sleep at night? like turning on left or turning on right or laying flat on back? I have a habit of laying flat on my back and I will put my hands and arm on my lower tummy unconsiously. Will that squeeze and put pressure on my baby? thanks a lot!

You can lie down or sleep in any position (i.e. to right, left, or lying flat on back), provided you keep on changing position regularly. The only position which can be damaging is lying flat on abdomen and should be avoided completely during pregnancy. Putting arms on your lower abdomen while sleeping should not cause any harm. Hope it helps. Take care and regards.
